Während unsere beiden Motoren ihr Makeup genossen und auch wieder eingebaut wurden, haben wir zwei G&Tonic hergerichtet und uns aufs Vordeck gesetzt um zu besprechen ...

... wir haben eine Idee 💡
⛩ ein Hardtop / ein festes Dach über dem Cockpit
Ürsprünglich gab es auf der Pinky nur ein Stoffdach über dem Cockpit, wir haben dann in Monfalcone eine LKW-Plane darüber genäht, weil der Stoff nicht mehr dicht war und wir so die Solarpanele
montieren konnten. Wir wußten von Anfang an, daß das nur ein Provisorium sein wird.
Um ein wetterfestes Dach zu machen, gibt es im Prinzip nur 2 Optionen: einen neuen Stoff nähen oder ein festes Hardtop anfertigen lassen. Der Originalrahmen des Daches allerdings hat zwei
Aussparungen: über dem Steuerstand und über der Backbord Sitzbank. Wir haben im Internet zwar Regendächer für diese Rahmenversion gesehen, aber so wirklich überzeugt hat uns keine. Es hatte eher
einen Zeltcharakter und Wolfgang müßte dann am Steuerstand dauernd gebückt stehen ... es mußte also was anderes her. Für die, die uns kennen, wissen ja, daß wir schon lange mit der Idee eines
Hardtop herumgeistern. Ein Jahr lang Internet-recherche, tüfteln, überlegen, Kostenvoranschläge einholen, Werften raussuchen ... aber es hat einfach nicht klick gemacht.
... und dann kam die Idee: Wenn wir schon hier sind, fragen wir doch Niko den Werftbesitzer ob er so etwas macht, er baut schließlich auch Regattasegelboote ...
Jetzt liegen wir also immer noch hier in Dubrovnik, fast drei Wochen später, und ...
WIR BEKOMMEN EIN HARDTOP !!!! 🤩🤩🤩

... we have an idea 💡
⛩ a hardtop / a solid roof over the cockpit
Originally Pinky only had a soft fabric roof over the cockpit which has become ugly and was not waterproof any more. In Monfalcone last year we sewed a tarp over it to get it waterproof and we
were able to mount our solar panels on to it. We always knew that this is only a temporary solution. But it served its purpose for our first two seasons. To make a weather proof roof there are
only two solutions: either sew a new fabric soft roof or have a hardtop manufactured. The tricky part is the frame of the roof, it has two "holes", one over the helm and one over the port side
bench. We have seen rain enclosures for this frame on the internet, but it looked more like a tent. It did not really convince us. And Wolfgang would have to sit at the helm, impossible for him
to stand when the rain roof is set up. So there had to be another solution, a hardtop. For those that know us, we have been roaming the internet for a hardtop for over a year now, designs, ship
yards, quotes ... but it was never convincing enough to go for it.
... and then we had the idea: as we are already here, why not ask Niko, the shipyard owner here in Dubrovnik, maybe he could do it ... as he is building regatta boats ...
Now, nearly three weeks later, we are still here in Dubrovnik, and ....
WE ARE GETTING A HARDTOP !!!! 🤩🤩🤩

🇦🇹 Es ging dann eigentlich alles recht schnell, Niko kam ausmessen, überlegen, besprechen. Wobei, er hatte schon ziemlich genaue Vorstellungen, wir haben da nicht wirklich viel dazu beigetragen ;-) Oft stand Niko eine Stunde am Kai und starrte auf die Pinky, dann drehte er sich um und fing an, das Negativ her zu stellen. Ohne CAD-Programm, ohne Wasserwaage, nur mit Bleistift, Zettel und einem Maßband.
So wirds ausschauen:
- ziemlich rechteckig mit abgerundeten Ecken, die ca 10cm hinter der Rückenlehne der Sitzbank abschließen
- am Steuerstand wird es eine Stehhöhe von 1,80 geben (dazu wird der Baum um 20cm weiter oben am Mast montiert)
- 2 Fenster, um hinauf zum Segel zu sehen
- es wird ungefähr die Form des Salondaches haben, damit es eine "Design Linie" hat
- der Mittelsteg wird, wie jetzt auch schon, begehbar werden
- das Dach bekommt eine Zwischendecke, damit alle Solarpanelteile und Lampen versteckt angebracht werden können
- 8 neue Solarpanele kommen oben drauf
- eine Kederschiene wird eingebaut für den zukünftigen Regen- und Sonnen"vorhang"
📸 Die Photoreihe dazu kommt, wenn es fertig ist. So bekommt ihr einen schönen Ablauf über die mehr als komplexe Baustelle.
Es sind derzeit schon 3 Lagen Glasfaser und die Verstrebungen angebracht 😃 - bis Ende November soll es fertig sein.
Und damit uns nicht fad wird, haben wir zeitgleich ein zweites Großprojekt gestartet, das erzähl ich euch in einem anderen Blog ...
🇬🇧 It started off pretty quick. Niko came to take measurements, to think and talk. Although he already had a pretty good idea of what HE wanted, we did not really contribute a lot ;-). Often Niko starred at Pinky for an hour, then turned round and started on the mould. No CAD program, no level, just a pen, pater and a meter.
This is how its going to look like:
- pretty square with round edges, they will stand out about 10cm behind the sitting area
- standing hight at the helm will be 1,80
- it will have 2 windows to look up to the sails
- it will roughly have the shape of the salon roof so it will all be one kind of design
- the middle path will be reinforced so we can walk on it when working on the boom
- there will be a second roof to hide all electronics
- 8 new solar panels will be mounted
- a keder rail will be added for the future rain and sun enclosure

At the moment, three layers of fibreglass and the support structure elements have been applied 😃
And so we don't get bored, we started a second major improvement project of which I will tell you in my next blog ...
